The NXP FRDM-IMX91 Development Board is a compact, low-cost platform designed to accelerate industrial, automotive, and IoT application development using the i.MX 91 applications processor. Powered by a 1.4 GHz Arm® Cortex®-A55 core and featuring the EdgeLock® secure enclave, the board delivers high performance and robust security for connected edge devices.
Memory options include 1GB LPDDR4, 8 GB eMMC, and a microSD slot, ensuring fast boot times and flexible storage for prototypes. Connectivity is provided through the onboard u-blox MAYA-W476 module with NXP’s IW610 Tri-Radio, offering Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth® LE 5.4, and 802.15.4, supporting Thread, Zigbee, and Matter protocols. Dual GbE RJ45 ports, USB 2.0 Type-C/A, and CAN interfaces add versatility for industrial and automotive integration, while a 40-pin expansion header supports parallel RGB LCDs and camera interfaces.
Preloaded with a Linux BSP image, the FRDM-IMX91 enables rapid prototyping using MCUXpresso and Yocto tools, with ongoing support via NXP’s Debian and Yocto releases. The 10-layer PCB integrates a PCA9451 PMIC and PCF2131 RTC, providing a complete hardware and software ecosystem for fast, secure development of next-generation IoT and automotive applications.
