It uses data and experiences to automatically tune algorithms. By going even further, we find Deep Learning (DL), a sub-set of ML which utilises deep neural networks to simulate the learning process.

A sub-set of AI that demonstrates the ability to receive sets of data, learn from the data, then change, update, or improve algorithms to enhance overall performance.
A sub-set of ML that exhibits learning based on the deep artificial neural networks used to represent patterns. A system understands enormous amounts of information, recognising patterns and tendencies, and responds in useful ways.
Human brain inspired the whole idea of neural networks. It is powerful amalgamation of powerful set of algorithms and computational models, carefully designed to recognize patterns. Neural networks interpret data through kinds of machine perception, labeling or assembling raw inputs.
