Product Overview
FT232RNQ-TRAY is an USB to serial UART interface IC that provides a complete single-chip solution for USB to asynchronous serial data transfer applications. It integrates the entire USB protocol on-chip, eliminating the need for USB-specific firmware development, and includes a fully integrated 1024bit EEPROM for storing device descriptors and CBUS I/O configuration. The device features integrated USB termination resistors and clock generation circuitry, removing the need for external crystals while also providing optional clock outputs for direct interfacing with MCUs or FPGAs. It supports data transfer rates from 300baud to 3Mbaud for RS232, RS422, and RS485 communication at TTL levels, with 128byte receive and 256byte transmit FIFOs that use buffer smoothing technology for improved throughput. It supports FTDI’s royalty-free VCP and D2XX drivers, configurable CBUS I/O pins, TX/RX LED drive signals, and flexible UART including 7 or 8 data bits, multiple stop bits, and parity options.
