Product Overview
ST485ERBDR is a low-power transceiver for RS-485 and RS-422 communication. Each driver output and receiver input is protected against ±15KV electrostatic discharge (HBM) ±8kV (IEC-1000-4-2 contact discharge) shocks, without latch-up. This part contains one driver and one receiver. This transceiver draws 300µA (typ.) of supply current when unloaded or fully loaded with disabled drivers. It operates from a single 5V supply. The driver is a short-circuit current that is limited and protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver outputs into a high-impedance state. It is designed for bi-directional data communication on multipoint buses.

- Allows upto 64 transceivers on the bus

- Propagation delay input to output is 30ns typical at (RDIFF = 54 ohm, CL1 = CL2 = 100pF)
- Rise or fall time is 15ns typical at (RDIFF = 54 ohm, CL1 = CL2 = 100pF)
- Receiver input resistance is 24Kohm minimum at (VCM = -7V to 12V)
- Operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C, SO8 package
